Eye Contact This term in Electronic Arts, we were asked to create and present video and/or sound works for installation or publication. I started with some thoughts on how I could use video to capture a perfect sunrise or sunset, places and moments that make me smile and wish you were there and hold them forever - perfect moments. Gradually I realised with the help from my teacher that capturing a ‘perfect moment’ with video might be a bit of an impossible task. I then started to experiment with video of my classmates faces. The idea behind this work ‘Eye Contact’ is to capture some of the elements of holding someones's gaze with your eyes - holding eye contact. Eye contact is something people find hard to do, especially for long periods of time. I wanted to create a video piece that sort of forces people to make eye contact with someone else and connect or communicate, using only their eyes, with that person. |
