Arts Week 2010

August 23rd, 2010

Congratulations to the arts students and staff for their contribution to Arts Week. See Images The feedback has been extremely positive with students enjoying the opportunity to ‘finish off’ and present their works to an audience. Music ensembles, 11&12 dance routines and monologues, gave the students such a positive experience with some requesting another showing. The lunch time student band performance showed the diversity to the music program with fans lapping it all in. All present were impressed with the professionalism of the performers over the week. In the quiet corridors of the Arts Block and Library students drag friends in to view their exhibited  studo visual arts and photography works and the arts website shows works from Electronic Art works which are very mature and insightful for high school students. (http://www.wchsarts.net/siteworks/) Media students young and older came to the forefront and proudly taking out a number of awards.

2010 Concert Band Festival

August 16th, 2010

Congratulations to all the music students who performed at the WA Concert Band Festival on Saturday 12th August.

See Images   I can honestly say that we did a fabulous job. Our practice really paid off. We travelled to Perth Modern at 8am and we practiced until we got to perform. We played three pieces; Celtic Celebration, Pirates of the

Caribbean and The Spook. I am quiet certain, actually I can say we had heaps of fun and for us all especially the 8’s it was a great experience.Thank you to our Music Director Mr Price!

Creative Arts Production Company 2009 & 2010 presents….

August 11th, 2010

On Tuesday the 10th of August 2010, year 8 and 9 CASP and Music students performed to Rockingham Lakes, Port Kennedy and

Baldivis

Primary Schools.

We performed music, dance and drama pieces that we have been devising in class. We developed the ideas for our drama plays from memories that CASP students had in their lives. One of our scenes was “A Memory” by Amy; her first time on a thrilling rollercoaster ride. The whole day was long but a really fun experience. We performed two shows on the day. At the end of the day we were tired and but proud as we had all done a fantastic job. I thought the second performance was better that the first because the first time we didn’t really know what was going on. I think on the second performance we were more confident, and were aware of what was going on. At the end of each show we mixed with the audience and they gave us really good feedback.

St George’s Art Exhibition (38 George’s Terrace) has become a premier annual event in art education in

Western Australia, attracting schools from all sectors.

“Inclusion in this exhibition should be considered prestigious and significant. It also contributes to artists’ prominence in the visual arts exhibition scene in Perth,” said Julia Wren, Visual Art Lecturer at the ECU School of

Education, and Curator of the exhibition.

Each year, up to 1,500 visitors flock to the Cathedral to view the exhibition as the standard of art on display continues to reach new heights. Many of the younger students go on to exhibit their work in the Year 12 Perspectives Exhibition at the Art Gallery of WA.

Thank you to Ms McCarthy and Mr Armitstead for their contribution
